CURRENT SPORTS PROVISION

The Foundation manages its seven playing fields using these core objectives to increase local community access to good quality sports facilities. Not only are its grounds used at weekends by local clubs for football and cricket, there is extensive midweek usage by schools and universities.

All the Foundation's grounds provide football pitches for youth teams and the London Marathon Playing Field, Greenwich is a dedicated mini soccer centre. During 2003 a new pavilion was erected at this ground to improve access for girls and disabled groups.

Sports coaching

The Foundation has taken the lead in encouraging disenfranchised young people to participate in organised sporting activity in Greater London by working in partnership with other voluntary organisations. In 2001 it organised a ground-breaking football festival for refugee groups and, with the support of the Football Association, has helped to replicate the project across the country.

The Foundation recognises that coaching and education courses play an important role in promoting the development of sport. Courses such as Level I and Level II Certificate in Coaching Football, Referees Courses, Effective Football Club Administration and FA Emergency Aid courses are all held at its grounds.
