Waltham Forest Council Leader visits CTF
Cllr Robbins visits CTF
On Thursday 6th August the Leader of Waltham Forest Council, Chris Robbins visited the Coping Through Football project at SCORE in Leyton.
The trip had been organised by the Foundation to showcase the success of the project and to increase its awareness at a time when the Foundation is promoting it to the Commissioning Services. The long term vision of the Foundation has always been to have Coping Through Football mainstreamed into the community mental health service.
Cllr Robbins met representatives from North East London Foundation Trust, Waltham Forest PCT, LOCSP and NHS England. He was then shown a DVD of the project before visiting the Coping Through Football session that was taking place. Despite it being one of the hottest days of the summer so far the session was well attended and Cllr Robbins talked with Matt Howard-Jones the Project Co-ordinator and Adam, a participant in the project, about their experiences with Coping Through Football. Cllr Robbins was very interested in the project and when asked his thoughts said “I am very impressed with not only the support given to the service users, but the users themselves. They are clearly responding to the treatment and it is brilliant when you hear one of them say something like ‘it’s saved my life’. The project is very impressive”.
