The Peter May Sports Centre

The Peter May Sports Centre is a former ILEA site previously known as Wadham Lodge Sports Centre, which was acquired by the Foundation in 1991. In 2000, as a result of the Peter May Appeal and funding from the Sports Lottery and LB Waltham Forest, the site was transformed into the Foundation’s flagship site with an indoor cricket hall, artificial turf pitch, health and fitness club and brand new changing rooms.

Today the ground provides football, cricket and hockey pitches to clubs, schools, universities and for county and district fixtures. It also provides a London base for the Essex County Cricket Board to identify and develop talented young cricketers. The outdoor football pitches provide a home venue for Leyton Orient Girls’ Centre of Excellence.

In partnership with Greenwich Leisure Ltd the ground also offers a modern health and fitness centre making it first class multi-sport hub site for the residents of Waltham Forest and beyond.

The ground also hosts two of the Foundation’s innovative projects – Active Angels and Coping Through Football.
