Social Media Consultant – 3-month project

London Playing Fields Foundation is a charity that protects, promotes and provides playing fields for 300,000 Londoners.  We believe that sport can improve lives and are passionate about promoting the use of playing fields to local communities as well as protecting open spaces in London from development.  We also run several life-changing projects that provide sporting opportunities for some of London’s most disadvantaged groups, like our Coping Through Football project which helps people with mental health problems get their lives back on track through football.

We are looking for a consultant to assist the Foundation with its Social/Digital Media activity and content creation on an initial 3-month contract with a view to extend it if successful.


You will have had experience in managing social media campaigns, creating digital content and managing social media channels. As well as a passion for communication and engaging with different audiences and a flair for creating and designing content. This is an exciting opportunity to take on and develop a social media campaign, working as part of a team at the same time as being confidently self-sufficient.

  • Increase the charity’s social media activity across all channels: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Increase and curate engaging and relevant digital content for the Foundation’s digital channels, contribute to the social media strategy and offer social media expertise and advice to LPFF staff and Trustees.
  • Provide design work as appropriate and to fit in with the primary social media and digital elements of the role.
  • Increase awareness of the LPFF’s work and its impact
  • Initiate partnerships with the corporate sector


  • Create engaging content for social media channels including video, animations, infographics, IG stories, IGTV
  • Work with the Communications Manager on the social media strategy and set goals to increase brand awareness and engagement
  • Plan social media campaigns in line with other marketing and communications activities
  • Use social media analytics to generate regular reports, using results to inform future day-to-day work and campaigns
  • Spot social media trends and industry best practice, advising on best social media content, tactics and new technologies
  • Form relationships with key social media influencers to help grow our reach

What the role will look like

16 hours per week of flexible working with and reporting to LPFF Communications Manager. The role, which will suit a freelancer working within the media sector, will be based on a three-month contract @ £1,000 per month. The contract will be reviewed at the end of the initial three-month period.
