tonight we feature groundstaff

The unsung heroes of LPFF are our groundstaff who prepare and maintain pitches of the highest quality for our schools, clubs and colleges across the year and in all weather conditions.

Our groundstaff are the life blood of the charity in that they play a crucial role in ensuring that our schools and clubs feel that our facilities provide a home from home for them where they can widen, increase and sustain participation. Often they are the first people that our users see and therefore play an important part in developing strong and lasting customer relationships. If we are unable to provide place to play sport that is welcoming and attractive they won’t come back.

Across our seven playing fields, in 2024 we provided a home to 775 football teams, 32 cricket clubs, 14 softball teams, a rugby club, a Gaelic football team, 8 school sports days and Walthamstow Parkrun. This means that the staff have to be highly skilled in preparing and repairing playing surfaces, often under severe pressure, to ensure that our users enjoy the best possible playing experience.

Tonight we celebrate the work of our groundstaff Paul, Glenn, Kevin, Marc, Terry and Nic.
